Emelissa O’Brien

High School Coordinator

Emelissa was born and raised in Honduras and moved to the US when she was sixteen to plant a church with her family in Columbus, TX. In 2013 she trained to be a Paramedic but then changed course, studying Evangelism and Discipleship at Moody Bible Institute. After volunteering during her freshman year, Emelissa was inspired by the work ICI was doing in the lives of urban youth. After her graduation from Moody in May 2017, she decided to take on a full-time position as ICI’s High School Coordinator in Cicero. She enjoys anything tropical and ocean related, but recently “discovered the beauty and complexity of the concrete jungle of Chicago.”

Making an impact

One life transformed can result in many lives that are changed for the better. At ICI we know this is true because we’ve seen it happen: when you impact a kid, you impact a family and a community. And if you do it enough times, you have the opportunity to impact the world.
