Growing Leaders Through Relationship and Discipleship
Leadership Development at ICI is rooted in long-term relationships and intentional discipleship. As students grow in maturity and begin asking deeper questions about faith, responsibility, and purpose, some are invited into closer mentorship and leadership-focused opportunities alongside trusted staff.
This program is not a checklist or fast track. Leadership development unfolds over time through life-on-life relationships, where students are encouraged to grow in character, responsibility, and service while learning what it looks like to lead with humility and consistency.
How Leadership Development Takes Shape
Leadership Development at ICI looks different for every student. Rather than a single path, it reflects the unique pace, readiness, and needs of each young person as staff walk closely with them.
For many students, leadership development may include:
-
Students who demonstrate growing maturity, consistency, and a desire to deepen their faith may be invited into closer mentorship. These students participate in small group Bible studies, receive intentional guidance from staff, and begin learning what it means to lead through service.
-
As responsibility increases, some students are given opportunities to serve alongside staff in programs, events, or administrative tasks. These roles allow youth to practice dependability, follow-through, and teamwork while continuing to receive guidance and discipleship.
-
Leadership development at ICI emphasizes presence over position. Staff invest deeply in students’ lives—listening, advising, and helping them navigate challenges related to school, family, faith, and future decisions.
Participation in leadership development is invitation-based and relational, shaped by discernment rather than application alone.
What Students Gain Through Leadership Development
Through intentional mentorship and responsibility, students in Leadership Development are encouraged to grow in ways that extend far beyond a single program.
Students learn:
That leadership begins with character, not recognition
The importance of discipline, consistency, and follow-through
How to serve others with humility and care
That growth often happens through listening, learning, and accountability
Practical skills related to responsibility, time management, and workplace expectations
How faith shapes everyday decisions, relationships, and leadership
These lessons are reinforced through real relationships and lived experience, not just instruction.
Rooted in Faith, Lived Out Daily
Leadership Development at ICI is fully faith-centered. Bible studies, prayer, and spiritual conversations are woven into mentoring relationships, creating space for students to wrestle with questions, grow in understanding, and deepen their walk with Christ.
Rather than separating faith from leadership, students are encouraged to see how their beliefs inform how they treat others, make decisions, and respond to challenges.
