Building Confidence, Character, and Community Through Sports

ICI’s Sports Leagues create positive, structured environments where children and youth can grow through teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition. Sports provide a powerful context for learning—helping students connect effort with progress, build confidence, and develop relationships with peers and caring adult leaders.

For many students, sports leagues offer a consistent, encouraging space where they feel seen, supported, and challenged in healthy ways.

Types of Sports Programming

Sports programming at ICI varies by season and year, allowing flexibility based on student interest, space, and volunteer involvement. Offerings may include:

Specific sports offerings may change from year to year, but all are guided by the same commitment to positive development and relationship-building.

What Sports Leagues Look Like

Sports Leagues at ICI prioritize participation, growth, and encouragement over performance alone. Coaches and volunteers work to create environments where students are challenged while also supported and affirmed.

Through sports programming, students are encouraged to:

  • Practice teamwork and communication

  • Learn how to manage emotions during competition

  • Set goals and work toward improvement

  • Develop discipline, consistency, and perseverance

  • Win with humility and lose with grace

Sports become a platform for learning how effort, self-control, and respect translate into everyday life.

Faith and Sports at ICI

While Sports Leagues are activity-driven, faith is modeled through the relationships and example set by leaders and coaches. Students experience encouragement, accountability, and care from adults who seek to reflect Christ’s love through their actions, attitudes, and commitment.
